How long has Cincinnati EyeCare Team been around?

The Optometric division of Group Health Associate was sold off to create Cincinnati EyeCare Team in 1996. Our West Chester office was built in 2003 as a consolidation of 2 smaller locations and our New Clifton office was relocated from the former GHA Clifton office to 3308 Jefferson Ave in August of 2012. Our Doctors have been serving the eye care needs of the greater Cincinnati area for over 25 years.

What Insurance Plans do you accept?

Anthem, Aetna, Humana, United Health Care, VSP, EyeMed, Comp Benefits, Medical Mutual of Ohio, etc. As Insurance companies offer a wide variety of plans, please verify your Vision plan coverage with our doctors’ names to ensure we are a provider.

 

What is the difference between an Optician, an Optometrist and an Ophthalmologist?

  • Optician – is a health care professional that fits and dispenses lenses for the correction of a person’s vision. Opticians determine the specifications of various ophthalmic appliances that will give the necessary correction to a person’s eyesight.
  • Optometrist – is a licensed medical specialty concerned with eyes and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems, and vision information processing in humans Doctors of Optometry give eye examinations and diagnoses and treats eye diseases. They can write prescriptions. Cincinnati EyeCare Team doctors are Optometrists.
  • Ophthalmologist – is an eye specialist for medical and surgical problems. Since Ophthalmologists perform operations on eyes, they are considered to be both a surgical and medical specialty.

 

What happens during an eye exam?

A comprehensive eye exam includes a variety of brief tests and evaluations to determine the health of your eyes and the quality of your eyesight. See Learning Center for more details.

 

How long is an eye exam?

An annual comprehensive eye examination takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

 

What is a Refraction?

The Refraction is the part of the eye examination where your doctor determines the prescription of your lenses for eyeglasses.

 

If I can see why should I get an eye exam?

To check the health of your eyes. Many eye diseases do not immediate affect your vision but can damage your eyes and lead to vision loss if untreated.

 

Can I pick out glasses today after my eye exam?

Yes, the Doctor will give you your prescription today and one of our licensed Opticians will help you choose a frame and the lens best suited for your lifestyle. The glasses will be available for pick up in 7-10 days and will be adjusted to a comfortable fit before you leave our office.

 

Do you offer eye exams for kids?

Yes, we specialize in Pediatric Optometry and have a child-friendly office. We even have a child examination room that has kid-friendly optometric tools and an environment to make your child comfortable and at ease about their eye exam.

 

Why do I need sunglasses?

It is important to protect your eyes from damaging UV rays that can lead to eye diseases and even vision loss. We sell quality sunglasses that block out 99% of harmful UV-A and UV-B radiation.

 

Can I get contact lenses today?

Yes, scheduling an eye exam with a contact lens fit/ evaluation allows the Doctor to fit you in new contact lenses or update your contact lens prescription with a lens that best meet your needs. Depending on the contact lens recommended, you can take them home today or pick them up in 3-4 days. We also offer shipping contacts to your home as an added convenience.

 

Do you offer rebates on contact lenses?

Yes, contacts purchased from CET are eligible for all manufacturer rebates. CET also offers in-office discounts on 6 month and annual supply purchases. We also offer contact lenses online at www.CincinnatiEyeCareTeam.com with a valid prescription. You can order them 24/7 at your convenience!
